About us

The Association For Nature Conservation and Rural Development - ANACORD was founded in 2005, and registered with the Uganda Ministry of Internal Affairs under the Non-governmental organisations regiteration Statute, 1989 ( S591/5554) as a nongovernmental organisation - NGO.

ANACORD is a membership organisation for groups of farmers and professionals in agriculture, environmental science, veterinary medicine, human health, education and human rights.

The organisation is headed by a general assembly which appoints a board of trustees, which is given the responsibility of running the organisation through a secretariat.

Objective

The objective is to promote nature conservation as a tool for rural transformation, through eco-tourism, agriculture and environmental conservation, education and health / sanitation. There is need for community driven sustainable and replicable environmental based development projects.

Ideology

A nation is developed as people are empowered and self developed severally and or collectively. While development is a necessary attribute of life, national governments should seek to enhance this process, only the people themselves can initiate and carry through aunthentic and sustainable development.

Vision

Health and productive rural communities, living in a clean  and productive environment and capable of providing the basic needs of life to the members of the community.

Mission

Contributing towards the restoration and development of degraded ecosystems and promoting the wellbeing of commnities through their own initiatives, recognizing that the collective efforts of our people will determine the success of the projects.

Goal

To improve the livelihoods of rural communities through sustainable managment of natural resources especially the use of renewable energies.
